ShelbyCares is a community partnership between Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris, Shelby County Government, and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine.

What is ShelbyCares?

Through educational classes, free events, and group workouts, ShelbyCares hopes to make it easier to be healthy. Best of all, any Shelby County resident can take advantage of free health and nutritional coaching from health coaches trained under the leadership of UTHSC.

Health Screenings

Review your vitals - including weight, blood pressure, and glucose levels. Then, discuss the challenges in your daily life that affect your health.

Health Coaching

Our certified health coaches provide steady support as you pursue your health goals. Lose weight, eat healthier, or get more active with your health coach by your side.

Workout Activities

Visit ShelbyCares on 3rd each week for yoga, aerobics, or other group workouts. It's important to move at least 30 minutes each day. ShelbyCares makes it easier.

Nutritional Support

Visit your Health Coach or a ShelbyCares Ambassador to discuss your daily diet - including snacks and meal plans that are affordable, healthy, and delicious.

Discuss your daily habits, family history, work-life, and social life factors that may impact your health.

Education & Support

Receive free resources and essential tools to help you reach your health goals. All items are provided at no cost by ShelbyCares.

On-going Coaching

After your first visit, you'll continue to connect with your Health Coach in-person, online, or in special classes that meet your health needs.
