About ShelbyCares

We’re on a mission to help make Shelby County, Tennessee one of the healthiest places on Earth.

Lack of health insurance, daunting health systems, and fear about personal health. Those are just a few of the barriers to regular, preventive healthcare for residents in Shelby County.

Through ShelbyCares, we’re normalizing conversations about health and providing a judgement-free, hassle-free, community-centered path for more residents to access the essential health and wellness resources that can improve and extend lives.

Currently:

  • more than half of Shelby County adults are overweight or obese.
  • preventable heart disease is the #1 killer in our community.
  • Fewer than 30% of adults have seen a primary care physician within the last year.

Together, with support from the community, we can save lives by chipping away at the barriers to great health.
